The Palmolive Building, built in 1929, is a historic landmark building located among of mansions on a tree-lined street in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago. The building was used as a commercial office space for over 70 years and was then sold to a real estate developer to be converted to high end residential condos. As a part of the re-development, we were commissioned by the developer to design a representative model unit as a marketing tool to showcase the new building concept, restoration and residences.
It was extremely important to the developer that the model unit had a luxury feel and fit in with the neighborhood. Drawing inspiration from the building’s heritage, we developed a completely customized model unit that blended the building’s historic charm with modern luxury. A new floor plan was developed that lived more like a historic home than a downtown condo. We developed custom moldings and details and selected luxurious and rich materials with a warm traditional palette. Specialty furniture, art and accessories were curated for the unit that captured the essence of luxury living and elevate the space to appeal to prospective buyers.
